Social Network
A wonderful script, good performances and brilliant direction; in short “A must watch movie on the origin of Facebook.” Orkut, Myspace and similar social networking sites were present before/around the time facebook “happened” but there is something else altogether about facebook. The features, the platform, the constant upgrades – all this and more makes facebook a revolution in more ways then one. Besides its impact on the social networking arena, I believe it has/ will make a significant dent in other communication platforms like mails/ mobiles/ telephones etc. Most of us now prefer wishing each other on special occasions and sending messages through fb. I don’t remember the last time I received a link to picassa albums; most of us upload our snaps on fb. It’s a great platform to remain in touch, especially with friends/family who are based out of distant locations. On one hand, the world has shrinked but it has also lead to a strange distance on the same go. YOU ARE THERE BUT CAN DECIDE TO NOT BE THERE. Why only facebook, to a certain extent it is also possible on blogs and twitter. If you want, you can be an invisible character observing people’s lives, their vacations, the books they read/recommend, the movies they like/don’t, their thought processes, their change in social status (marriage/ parenthood/ change in jobs and the works) and can connect only IF YOU WANT TO. I don’t know whether 5/10 years down the line, some of us will be so used to connecting on the virtual level that we will feel awkward around REAL people around us. The last scene of “Social network” best explains the feeling – and what was that? Watch “Social Network” to appreciate what I mean …..and yeah, take a real friend along!

I agree...the last scene did convey what your post talks about. I liked the movie too...great script. Fb has changed the world! And we can never go back. Most of us don't want to either.
